Service Update: Ajax HUB Closure
Effective June 26, 2026, the Ajax HUB at 125 Commercial Avenue, Ajax will cease operations.
Why is the HUB closing?
Durham Region has made the decision to redirect HUB funding as part of a broader investment in the regional housing continuum. This is a system-level funding decision made in collaboration with the Town of Ajax, Durham Region Outreach, Durham Regional Police Services (DRPS), and community partners. This shift is intended to drive improved housing outcomes and support regional efforts to end homelessness — including a new housing-focused model (the ASH program) being piloted in partnership with Lakeridge Health, the Region of Durham, and CFOC, which provides rent supplements and housing benefits to support people in moving into stable housing.
What services are affected?
The following services, currently operating at 125 Commercial Ave, will no longer be available at this location after June 26, 2026:
- Drop-in services — meals, hygiene (showers and washroom access), and day supports
- On-site housing navigation and Advocacy
- On-site partner services (Lakeridge Health, Durham CHC, Brain Injury Association Durham, OW, ODSP, and others)
- Clothing and hygiene pantry
- Newcomer supports
